Supporting e-mental health research
Drum rolls, please! We are thrilled to announce the recipients of our Child/youth e-mental health impact grants, in partnership with Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC).
We're convinced that in today's digital world, there are undiscovered or underexploited technological solutions for many of the barriers and challenges that Ontario's children, youth and families face as they seek mental health help. That's why each selected project team will be receiving $100,000 to explore the use of technology to enhance or support child and youth mental health in Ontario – and, ideally beyond.
Meet our successful applicants:
- A virtual parent-led support group for parents of children/youth with eating disorders
(project leads: Dr. Jennifer Couturier, McMaster University; Erica Crews, Danielle's Place/Reach Out Centre for Kids)
- SibworkS: A digital intervention pilot to address the mental health issues of siblings of children with special needs
(project leads: Dr. Shannon Scratch, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital; Dr. Alex Elkader, Kinark Child & Family Services)
- Stop Now and Plan (SNAP) app: An app to help children with behavioural problems and their families develop coping skills at home
(project leads: Dr. Leena K. Augimeri, University of Toronto and Child Development Institute; Dr. Lynn Ryan MacKenzie, Child Development Institute)
